Denim on black

Lately, I've been obsessed with that casual chic given by a simple, ethereal (preferably black) dress paired with white or beige sneakers. The only problem is I do not own a simple, ethereal, black dress, but (I had a revelation cleaning my closet the other day) I do own a simple, black dress.

I have never worn it, although it has been in my closet for 2 summers. I considered it more of an evening dress. And it still is, but don't you think that it looks so good styled like this?
These days I would wear snickers to anything, too bad these are getting old and raggedy from all the washing and too bad H&M is not making more 37 white pairs.

Update to the update

I have another huge announcement to make! I have not broken my no clothes for 3 months rule! Ha-ha! So all of you who gloated reading my post last night, please take back all your words said and unsaid!

It turns out the dream dress I bought yesterday had a major flaw: a shady fabric (actually, I should have guessed it, it was 100% polyester, the kind which looks perfect only on mannequins). Don’t get me wrong, I love the cut, the color, but I would have worn it only to take pictures for the blog. So, I decided to return it and I did.

For those of you who are wondering about the dress, you can see it here. Since the fabric is a little see through for my taste, I would have styled it with a long basic black tee, also from H&M. I love the black and grey combination. You can’t go wrong with it. Also, I would have worn it with the sleeves rolled and my white sneakers, also from H&M. And my Accessorize mustard bag. And some funky long necklaces.

But, no worries, other dresses will come into my life and make me break promises. I still have 2 months to go, there is still hope! (I am not sure this is the right attitude for my plan).

So, today, I wore this lovely cobalt blue dress and forgot my sun glasses at home, in case you were wondering why I have so tiny, tiny eyes.

Update to the no clothes rule

Hey, guys! I have a huge announcement to make! For all of you who thought my plan was impossible, for those who did not trust my no clothes for 3 months rule and promise, well…you were almost right! J What does that mean? It only means that I am as strong as my weakness, and my first weakness (from quite a list – but this is another topic) (and my friends know what I am talking about) is H&M. Man, I really like side explanations. Again, different topic! Focus, Alex, focus!

Now, returning to our fashionable sheep, today I went, just to kill some time, in an H&M store. And, I got out after almost 40 minutes. Trust me, I am aware that 40 minutes is not much time in an H&M store, but for a person who still has 2 months before she could buy clothes, that is a lot of time. More interesting is that I spent 40 minutes in the fitting room, because, as I entered the store, I saw 2 of my dream dresses. Yes, I have several dream dresses, depending on the occasion, my mood, the weather, the color, the fabric, the music I am listening – you got the picture ;)

But not even trying on the dresses took 40 minutes, I made my mind about the one I wanted most (please pay attention here, the moment is really important) really quickly. No, what took 37 minutes was me having an argument with myself, discussing and explaining why I must have this dress. And why this dress was worth breaking my promise/rule (sometimes it feels like a burden, other times I am really proud of my decision). Long story short, I decided to make myself a present for my soon coming birthday and I bought it. And I decided on the spot, that self-birthday presents cannot and will not be, ever included in any no clothes rule-promise. Yes, I can do that and no, it is not called cheating, thank you for your support!

You will see later today on the blog the dress which made me write, in the middle of the night, this long, complicated post.
